Outline

  1. Engineering Specifications for Applying Sealcoat

This page is a specification, not a blog. The outline names each section. Do not treat the blurbs as the spec text.

  2. 1. Scope

The spec covers SealMaster pavement sealer on bituminous surfaces. If the pavement is not that surface, this spec does not apply.

  3. 2. Materials

The materials section lists pavement sealer available through SealMaster, and it sets acrylics aside. Use the source list, not a substitute product.

  4. 3. Application Equipment Requirements

Spray equipment has to place sealer with sand and keep the tank agitated so the mix stays uniform.

  5. 4. Surface Preparation

New asphalt cures 30 to 60 days in good weather. The spec includes a water test before you coat. Repairs happen before sealer.

  6. 5. Pavement Sealer Mixing Procedure

Mix to the specification for the exact sealer on the job. A generic ratio is not what this section allows.

  7. 6. Pavement Sealer Application Procedures

At least two coats, by squeegee, brush, or a machine built for sealer. Coverage and method details stay in the spec.

  8. 7. Traffic Markings

Paint on a fresh seal must be 100 percent acrylic waterborne. The spec does not allow solvent-borne paint on that fresh film.

  9. 8. Performance of Work

The contractor and the project engineer coordinate access so the work is not blocked. That is a job-control section, not a materials section.
