How to apply hot rubberized crack sealants
In cold-winter regions the FAQ prefers application around 45 to 65°F, when cracks are open. Hot weather narrows the crack and fights a good fill.
Overband
Leave a thin band on each side of the crack. A thick ridge is what snow plows tear off.
1. Non-Routed Crack
The first detail on the page is filling a crack that was cleaned but not routed. Follow the source drawing rather than inventing a reservoir.
2. Standard Routed Crack
A routed reservoir is the second detail. The page shows the shape. Use that figure for depth and width.
3. Shallow Routed Crack
The third detail is a shallow route. It is a different geometry from the standard route, not a lighter pour of the same cut.
Close
The summary line is: use a sound sealant, clean and dry the crack, do not overheat the material, and do not overfill.
